Movie: 2012

This movie is a very long one indeed. At 2:38:47 it took me two days to get through. :O

Basically, its about a family of five at the end of the world. The family includes a little known author, the divorced father, the two children of 7 and 11, the wife, and the wife's fiance.

I'll try to avoid spoilers of any kind  although without spoiling the movie, that may be hard.

BRIEF SUMMARY
We start off in 2009, where two scientists from India discover that the earths core is starting to boil. Soon after, they alert the people of the United States. in 2010, the UN commissions China to build 12 'arks' that will try to save a large number of the citizens of earth. The scene jumps to 2012, where the father arrives at his wife's house to take the children camping. He soon discovers that the lake they had planned on visiting is a dry salt flat, in Yellowstone, and that the government is working on suspicious stuff here. They are eventually shipped back to their home in California, where the father drops off the children at home. He drives to work and later on most of the west coast sinks into the ocean. But fortunately, not before  the father has returned home, grabbed his family and escaped in a plane.

The whole movie bares  Noah's Ark sort of feel, as all of mankind is wiped out except for the select few.

LANGUAGE
God's and Jesus' names are abused several times along with a quite many h--l's, d--n's, and unfortunately one or two s---'s and one noticeable f.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
 No drug use.
At one place a radio producer offers the father, Jackson Curtis, a beer. Jackson responds with an "Oh yeah." But he appears to not drink the beer.

SEXUALY INAPPROPRIATE SCENES TO WATCH OUT FOR
While in a grocery store, the boyfriend, Gordon, wraps his arms around Kate, the wife and says, "Lets make a baby." Kate responds with a brief stare and says, "We're not making a baby in the supermarket!" Gordon implies some other unneeded things in this scene, but the rest of the movie is clean, with the exception of a few kisses, here and there.

INTENSITY AND APPROPRIATENESS
The whole movie is extremely intense and I do not recommend for anyone under 12 or 13. In iTunes it says "Rated PG-13 for intense disaster sequences and some language."

CONCLUSION AND STAR RATING
7*******
I'd give it a 7 stars out of ten. It was humorous at times, and there where quite a few laughable jokes. It could make a good family movie night movie, so long as your family is all over 13.

It could have done without the cussing, but then again. Any sane person would probably be saying some of these things if their neighborhood street looked like an ocean of waves.

Thanks.
